Hanabi Hyuga has been introduced to be a solid neutral heavy character in the Storm series. Her neutral is pretty solid, her jutsus are great for both close and long range encounters and her damage is good too. You definitely have to work a little bit harder with Hanabi, but with the right assists it is hard for your opponent to escape Hanabi her endless pressure.

Hanabi got two primary jutsus in her arsenal. Her first jutsu is a rotating spin that cause the opponent to be in a stunned state on hit. This is a great pressure tool and when you combine this with your assists it is an instant guard breaker. It is also the perfect tool to use when your opponent decides to substitute behind you because of the I-frames on start-up. The I-frames make this jutsu much better than what it was in S4 and also way more viable.

Her second jutsu sends out a wind fist that causes the opponent to be in a bounced state on hit. This is a great neutral tool and can also be used as a combo extension tool. At range it can also be used to control the space between you and your opponent. You can also bait parries with this and cause your opponent to make mistakes because they won’t know your next move. Having another ranged assist with you can help a lot with this because they can keep your opponent stuck in place, so that you can engage your opponent without anything to worry about.

Overall, Hanabi is a great addition to the Storm series and her unique playstyle makes her a fun character to play with. Definitely check her out if you haven’t already!
