TREKKING IN PATAGONIA | Mount Fitz Roy + Laguna de los Tres in El Chaltén, Argentina

If you’re looking for your next place to travel to, definitely add South America to your list. Today, we are trekking one of the most popular (and scenic) hiking routes in Los Glaciares (Lows-Glassy-r-ays) National Park and the village of El Chaltén (chal-ten), Argentina.

Sendero al Fitz Roy, the trail to Mount Fitz Roy and Laguna de los Tres is an amazing experience with unbelievable views.

The Fitz Roy trek is about 13.3 mi (21.4 km) round trip and requires about 8-10 hours to complete, so most people make this hike a day trip.

BUT FIRST, we had to make our way to Argentina….

The Mount Fitz Roy trail begins from the northwest edge of El Chaltén, at the end of San Martin street. There’s a parking lot at the trailhead and a large sign welcoming hikers to Sendero al Fitz Roy.

Since we knew this was going to be a long day of hiking, we started our Fitz Roy trek at 8:00 am so we would have enough time to complete the hike, eat lunch at the top, and get back to town for the Argentina vs. Australia World Cup Quarter Finals.
