The N54 turbocharged engine uses vacuum solenoids to control the waste gates on the turbo. They go bad over time and will be unable to open fully and this will cause the following codes:
30FE: DME: Turbocharger, Boost Pressure Too High
3100: DME: Boost-Pressure Control, Deactivation
Replacing the valves will solve the problem. It's a real easy DIY. In this video you will also see how to test them to determine which one is bad so you can just change the bad one if you need to, but I recommend replacing both.
