During the summer of 1999 Eagle Creek Springs was turned into a SSHEAR site . Salmon Sited Habitat Enhancement And Restoration Site S-L7-01. This program was an attempt to replace Salmon hatcheries by building better natural habitat. It didn't work Coho Salmon continued to disappear so Washington State stopped funding the SSHEAR program in 2004. By then 53 SSHEAR sites were installed and then abandoned by WDFW. They were turned over to the PCSC (Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition ) in Forks WA to be maintained . This will be the 26 run of Coho Salmon in this creek.
