A Second Look At WebODM - Open Source Drone Mapping Software

Many months ago I did a video on WebODM on this channel. It didn't go too well for me, and I said I'd follow up on the software again some time. Well, I've finally taken a few minutes to look at WebODM again and see if it can benefit other drone pilots looking for other software to render 2D and 3D models.

As you'll see in the video, I got an Orthomosaic to work. It had less than 100 images captured with Map Pilot. You'll also see that attempting to render a higher end version of the model didn't work out so well. A failure code over an hour in.

If you have a powerful system with a lot of RAM and fast processors you might be able to get more out of WebODM then I do in this demo. I think WebODM is a viable option, you might just need to spend some more money on your computing power to get the most out of this FREE Open Source application for drones.
