Penang's Chew Jetty, established in the 19th century, is one of the oldest and most well-preserved clan jetties in George Town. Built by Chinese immigrants from the Chew clan, the jetty features traditional stilt houses constructed primarily from wood, reflecting the architectural styles of southern China. These houses are arranged in a linear fashion along the waterfront, connected by a network of wooden walkways. The jetty has retained much of its original character, with many structures still serving as residential homes. Over the years, some houses have been adapted to include modern amenities, ensuring the jetty's continued habitability while preserving its historical integrity. Chew Jetty is also known for its vibrant cultural scene, with various festivals and celebrations taking place throughout the year.
