Video tutorial on how to use the rig: • How-to tie Ranggong Rig: Catch More Fish!
Unlock the ultimate technique for boosting your fishing success with the Ranggong Rig! Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just starting out, this rig will help you land more catches on your next Singapore fishing trip. In this video, I’ll guide you through tying one of the best offshore rigs for reliably catching fish in Singapore waters. Here’s what you’ll need:
Daiwa 12-20lb FC leader
Daiichi hooks
Teardrop sinkers
T swivels, and more
In my early fishing days, I remember a nearby boat catching more fish than us with their Ranggong Rig while we struggled with tungsten jigs. They even shielded their catch from us as they reeled it in, keeping their ultimate secret to themselves! Many experienced anglers have relied on this method for years and are often reluctant to share it, worried it could "spoil the market." I might get a few critics for sharing this video, but my goal has always been to educate Singapore’s fishing community. Fishing here is a relaxing hobby, not a profession, and I’m excited to help new anglers enjoy it as much as I do. It truly brings me joy when you succeed based on what I share!
Join the MMSB fishing community to learn how to target the elusive longfin trevally, or Sagai, using MMSB ajing rubbers on the Ranggong Rig. Initially designed for bottom fishing, this rig has evolved to handle tricky species like the Longfin Trevally and other members of the Trevally family. Today, it’s a finesse method that uses durable “aji” rubbers to pursue larger fish, and many anglers now prefer Yamashita squid skirting for its longevity over standard aji rubbers.
This setup will help you catch a variety of Trevallies, including Longfin Trevally, Golden Trevally, Bumpnose Trevally, Bigeye Trevally, Giant Trevally, as well as smaller scads like Herring Scad, Shrimp Scad, Bigeye Scad, Oxeye Scad, and many more fishes!
Feel free to use the Yamashita skirting on your aji hook, ajing rubbers, or even a fly to maximize your fishing experience. I highly recommend the MMSB Gomu No aji as it a long lasting rubber fit for all your needs from Ranggong to Inshore Carolina Rig Ajing. It is made of TPE/TPR rubber to ensure you get the highest return of value from fishing.
