Composed by David Popper (June 16, 1843 – August 7, 1913), a Bohemian cellist and Jewish composer born in Prague. He studied the cello under Julius Goltermann (1825–1876) and was one of the last great cellists who did not use an endpin.
Vladimir Dubinsky was born in Russia in 1873 and emigrated to the US in 1903. He was Principal cello of the Russian Symphony Orchestra of New York from about 1916 to 1919. He died the evening of January 10th, 1938 after being "Stricken at Concert Rehearsal in Syracuse."
There is no piano in the recording, but there are additional strings.
