De paseo por Madrid: amanecer en la calle Atocha

Mucha gente asocia Atocha con la estación homónima, pero no tanta gente sabe que Atocha es también una calle, que comienza cerca de la Plaza Mayor y termina en la Plaza del Emperador Carlos V (más conocida como la Glorieta de Atocha), justo enfrente de la estación.

Empezamos este vídeo en las Plazas de la Provincia y Santa Cruz, en el barrio de Sol, donde veremos el Palacio de Santa Cruz. Más adelante veremos la parroquia de Santa Cruz, un edificio perteneciente al Ministerio de Justicia y la Plaza de Jacinto Benavente, donde se encuentra el Teatro Calderón.

Al salir de la Plaza de Jacinto Benavente la calle Atocha sirve de frontera entre dos barrios del distrito Centro: Cortes y Embajadores. En este tramo de la calle, hasta su final, nos encontraremos con las iglesias de San Sebastián, San Salvador y San Nicolás y del Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, el Teatro Monumental, la Plaza de Antón Martín y el Instituto Nacional de las Administraciones Pública (INAP).

Many people associate Atocha with the train station of the same name, but not many people know that Atocha is also a street, which begins near the Plaza Mayor and ends at the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V (better known as the Glorieta de Atocha), just opposite the station.

We start this video in the Squares of the Province and Santa Cruz, in the Sol neighborhood, where we will see the Palace of Santa Cruz. Later we will see the parish of Santa Cruz, a building belonging to the Ministry of Justice and the Plaza de Jacinto Benavente, where the Teatro Calderón is located.

Leaving the Plaza de Jacinto Benavente, Atocha Street serves as a border between two neighborhoods of the Centro district: Cortes and Embajadores. In this section of the street, until its end, we will find the churches of San Sebastian, San Salvador and San Nicolás and the Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, the Monumental Theatre, the Plaza de Antón Martín and the National Institute of Public Administrations (INAP).
