This webcast features Dr. Marguerite (Marti) DeLiema, Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota, who specializes in understanding the factors that increase individuals’ vulnerability to scams and fraud. Joined by Andrew Hartnett, 2024-2025 Co‑Chair of NASAA’s Senior Issues Committee and Deputy Commissioner of the Iowa Insurance Division, Dr. DeLiema discusses what her research reveals about scam susceptibility and the conditions that make some consumers more at risk.
The presentation explores the psychological, situational, and behavioral factors that heighten susceptibility, as well as the resilience‑building elements that can reduce the likelihood of victimization.
