» Qíngláng (情郎) is a term that means “lover” that is used exclusively by women. Sometimes, it can be used in the context of secret affairs.

» Yuānyāng (鸳鸯) are mandarin ducks, a species of ducks that is often believed to be life-long spouses. It’s used as a metaphor for love in modern day; in the old days (like, Ancient China-days, I think), yuānyāng is used as a metaphor for sworn brothers, as in loyalty.

My love letter to the Paper Bride series. Thank you for creating such a compelling story, and making me freak out over paper dolls and keeping me awake at 12 AM. I could not sleep for a few nights after binging this series.

Quite ironically, I referenced this into Vietnamese first before going into English. There was a lot of Vietsub videos for this song, and so I used those videos as reference to my English translation. I did use the original Chinese lyrics, though, so I didn’t go in with just Viet on my hands. Sadly, though, I couldn’t find even one English sub for this song; Paper Bride is mostly popular in the Southeastern hemisphere, clearly :’)

This is also just an excuse for me to mess around with the format of the video. I wanted to change the style for a bit now, and this allowed me to be a bit more creative than usual.
