In this lecture we discuss the basic steps for designing a constant gain microwave amplifier. In this case we do not use conjugate matched input and output matching networks as in the case of maximum gain amplifier. We reduce the gain of the input and matching networks to obtain broadband performance. We discuss what is meant by constant gain circles and we show how to use these constant gain circles to design broadband amplifier.
