This is a drive on Indian River Road. Coverage of this drive is the entire length from State Street in the Berkley neighborhood of Norfolk to Muddy Creek Road in a rural area of Virginia Beach. Indian River Road can serve as one of the main connectors between I-64 and the more urban areas of Hampton Roads to the laid back Pungo and Sandbridge neighborhoods in Virginia Beach. Indian River Road goes through many stark changes in its length from small urban street, to multi-lane boulevard, to a rural two-lane road.
In Norfolk and Chesapeake, a portion of Indian River Road is designated as Virginia State Route 407. VA 407 officially begins at Compostella Road (VA 168) and extends east to end at the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach City Line at Macdonald Road just shy of Military Highway (US 13). At one time, VA 407 extended into the City of Virginia Beach to end at Kempsville Road (VA 190), but has since been removed entirely within Virginia Beach. Despite the LRS Route Master map layer at Virginia Department of Transportation’s ArcGIS site indicating otherwise, the City of Norfolk actively signs VA 407 westward beyond its terminus into the Berkley neighborhood along Berkley Avenue (the reason for the transparent shield in the video).
