Volkswagen Corrado ABS to Manual Braking System Conversion

Hello everyone, I’m happy to be finally posting this video of converting the Corrado’s ABS system over to manual braking. It was a long time on the list of things to do but now that it’s complete I couldn’t be happier.

This is a full video from start to finish of the conversion. I know there’s some videos and pictures out there but perhaps this can give some viewing pleasure to your eyes :)

The video starts off as always with a check list of things to do beginning with the removal of the ABS system. I start off removing the antifreeze overflow bottle and dig deeper down towards the ABS system. With a few plugs and other apparatus’s out of the way it’s time to start unbolting from the inside. Like everything on the Corrado it was a tight fit to undo the nuts but with a bit of perseverance the nuts come off and the ABS system pulls right out.

Next step is to remove all the unwanted abs wiring that is a giant eye sore and a pain to manoeuvre around. With a pair of side cutters and a wrench the entire ABS cabling, module and relay fuses are pulled out leaving behind the most important wire to the back wing! There’s a few diagrams from the service manual and I show you how the car almost lit on fire from a burning fuse.

With everything removed the new brake lines are installed and the manual unit gets bolted into place. After bleeding the brakes the last part of the video shows the vacuum port connection to the booster. I hope everyone finds this one entertaining, it’s the longest video I’ve created this far.
