Exploring the Ruins of Dunscaith Castle - Scotland

God, to be in the presences of such history give me chills. I sat and admired these ruins for hours , wondering all the things that happen here, the people, the problems, the politics and the lifestyle in this amazing structure which was built by King William the Lion in 1181 and resided by the MacLeods and then seized in the 14th century by the MacDonalds and then abandoned in the 17th century. I could go on and on, but if you are interested, I encourage a little research, its so very cool.

The structure is but a shell of its original glory, but many features of the original are still present, the archways and stairs so solid they have barley changed. Once you get to the top of the rock, you can then start to see the shapes and foot print of the structure which then one can start to imagine the past. Having met some of the MacDonald descendants and family was also and amazing peak in to the history of the area.

An amazing place to visit on the edge of the world with a surrounding landscape that you never want to leave.
