Loss of energy and stamina while going through treatments for breast cancer, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, is extremely common, affecting 60-90% of individuals during and after their cancer treatments. Often this fatigue and weakness can persist, lasting years after treatment.
The good news is research shows that physical activity and exercise are the best ways to manage cancer-related fatigue and weakness both during and after the completion of cancer treatments. And, if done early in the treatment process, it can help prevent these side effects. KORT’s ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation certified therapists have been trained in the unique needs of people affected by cancer and are experts at determining safe and effective exercise programs at any time during the cancer journey.
Exercise and physical activity are only part of the equation to manage cancer-related fatigue and weakness. KORT’s ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation certified therapists can also provide education and strategies to further reduce fatigue, including, but are not limited to: posture training, ways to conserve energy and modify activity, breathing exercises, mindfulness & relaxation techniques, and tips for improved sleep.
