Sunrise & Sunset on Little Island, NYC | FULL TOUR Day and Night 2022

When is the best time to visit Little Island in New York? Little Island is open until midnight in the summer, and it looks amazing at night. It also opens at 6am, and it's completely empty and gives an entirely different experience.

Also, a few things have changed since Little Island opened. I'll tell you all about what's new in 2022.

Come explore Little Island with me at sunrise, sunset, day and night. This is one of my new favorite places in New York. I'm so excited to share this with you.

A few changes: You no longer need a reservation to get into Little Island. The park is free and openly accessible at all hours on every day. Some shows in the amphitheater may require an admission ticket, but you'll still be able to access the island for free during those times.

The other change is that the hours have been modified since it opened. During the summer, the island is open until midnight, but during the winter it closes at 9pm. Spring and Fall shut it down at 11pm. Those hours are subject to change again, so be sure to check the Little Island website before you go: https://littleisland.org/

You can access Little Island easily by taking the subway to 14th Street (take one of the west side lines like the 1/2/3 or the A/C/E) and walk west toward the Hudson. You'll cross under the High Line just a block before you hit the river. You can also take one of the M14 buses to the end, and those will bring you right to the island.

I shot this video over the course of a few days, once at sunrise to see it empty with just a few runners (it's a GREAT place to exercise in the morning), once at sunset and into the night so you can see what it looks like all lit up in the dark (it's beautiful!), and once in the afternoon with my family. All three times are great times to visit the island, all for different reasons. You can choose which time is best for you based on what you see in the video.
