Presnting my first Piano Sonata on this channel, I have played piano for 58 years and is my main instrument and the only instrument I play concerts with. A song of joy and sorrow. The joy of knowing a wonderful person and the sorrow when they leave us for Heaven. The song has my mixed feeelings that come to me without my permission, overwhelming my heart with loss and gratitude and appreciation.
When I lose a good friend, especially a musician friend, instrumental music seems to be the best words to get through it. He, Gordon Rowland, was a great musician of the classical guitar, a composer, teacher, author, and recording artist. Difficult to believe all our time together is over, at least on this world. Playing music together, listening to each other's music, working on music books for his students, enjoying our long talks on the state of the world. And it all happened too fast.
A kind and wonderful person, gentle with this world as well as on the guitar. Dedicated his entire life to music, which means he was very poor and lived in poverty. Now the music is gone, the live living music I heard from him. I have three CD's to remember the music, but that is not the same, missing the spirit of live performance.
Performing for God today I trust, Heaven is his venue now.
