The houses that make up the historical texture of the city are made of yellow limestone and built in such a way that they do not shade each other. This arrangement provides both an aesthetic appearance and coolness in hot climatic conditions. Mardin is under the influence of temperate continental climate. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are cold and rainy. The city has a unique view thanks to its location embracing a wide plain.
