Buying nucs can be challenging affair, with lots of potential hangups. In this video we look at what a nuc should and should not have!
Problems with nucs are a common occurrence, and lots of inferior goods enter the market every year, bought by inexperienced beginners at grossly inflated prices.
Seek nuc producers in your area with good reputations selling their own bees. A lot of commercially sourced nucs are blown-apart colonies coming out of almonds in California on ancient equipment, with all the problems that entails.
Things we want to see: strong population, minimum 3 brood frames with brood in varied states of maturity, a food frame (or equivalent), good healthy brood pattern, equipment in good serviceable condition, and a laying and accepted queen in a colony with her own brood.

I do not have any sponsorships or retailer relationships, I am not 'bought,' so I can always give an honest review about how and what I am using.
