A review of the Hornby Royal train set which contains an LMS Princess Royal class locomotive (Princess Elizabth) and three coaches from the current royal train, including the Queen's coach and the Duke of Edinburgh's coach.
This Hornby train set came out in the early 2000s and still appears reguarly on auction sites. It's an analogue set, but the locomotive is easily converted to digital and it offers something a bit special and different for your layout.
Despite hainvg a 1930s LMS liveried loco in the set, the set actually represents the modern day Royal train with coaches that are still in use today. Princess Elizabeth was preserved and reintrodued to the rails in 2002 still wearing her LMS livery and pulled the royal train in 2012.
