GREAT HIKES in Uluru and Kata Tjuta | Australia's Red Center

We spend 2 full days hiking around Uluru and Kata Tjuta in Australia's Red Center.

The first day we hike around the base of Uluru. It is 10.6KM total and takes us around 4 hours. This is a beautiful and flat hike that circles the entire base of the rock formation. We were able to get such an appreciation of the sheer size and details in the rock being so close.

After finishing the hike and hiding from the sun all afternoon, we went back to Uluru to make a picnic dinner and enjoy the sunset.

On the 2nd day we drive out to Kata Tjuta which is a part of the same park but is about 50KM away from Uluru. We do the Valley of the Winds hike which is 7.4KM and takes us about 3 hours. This is such a different hike than Uluru with the trail weaving through the rock formations and some small elevation changes.

We again hide from the heat and sun in the afternoon and get ready to head back to Alice Springs the following day.
