----- Reading Fundamentals course -----
In this course, I am going to go through how to read Vietnamese from scratch. It's actually very easy! After this course, you should be able to read ANYTHING in Vietnamese - understanding it is another matter. Since Vietnamese is phonetic, once you can read then you can give writing a shot. From there it's all practice, practice and more practice.

some basic understanding of the Vietnamese language (not necessary but it will greatly accelerate how fast you pick it up)

understand how to sound out words (cách đánh vần) - lesson 4
understand limitations of adding tones - lesson 5
know of the 3 traditional Vietnamese accents - lesson 6

----- Intended audience -----
These videos are aimed at people of Vietnamese heritage born outside of Vietnam or grew up in another country who wish to reconnect with their linguistic roots. Most, if not all of us, escaped Vietnam as refugees and/or are children of parents who have done so.

I am not a native speaker - Vietnamese is my second language. I was born and raised in Australia with Viet parents so my Vietnamese is spoken with a blended accent of giọng nam (Southern Viet accent) and Australian English. I'm not claiming to be a pro at Viet, but I do know how to read and unfortunately too many of us can't. So at the very least, I want to at least impart this knowledge.
