Here's a solfege song to introduce "do", contextualized to any Middle Eastern or Arabic country.
Here are the lyrics:
Sol, sol, la, la, sol, sol, mi
Shake the giant date palm tree.
Sol, sol, la, la, sol, sol, mi
Dates are falling right on me.
This one has a fun game to go along with it. Have two students be the date palm tree, holding hands up high to create a tree. The rest of the class walk around in a circle, passing through the "tree" as they sing the song. When the song ends, the tree "catches" whoever was standing under them on the word "me" (and this also helps lay emphasis on the new note "do"). The student who is caught switches with one of the "trees" and game continues.
