There are so many charming locations in and around Terai and Dooars. Naxal Moray Forest Village is one such gem of a place. Located on the Jhalong-Bindu Road, this beautiful village is bestowed with Nature’s bounty. It has everything to offer – green plains, lofty mountains, murmuring river, wild flowers, numerous birds, colourful butterflies and so on. This off-beat place is still less explored, and thankfully so! Fewer tourists, fewer footprints, less pollution!
Naxal Mouray Forest Village has a beautiful site for spending a whole day in the lap of Nature. This tourist spot, popularly known as ‘Naxal’, is located near the confluence of Naxal Khola (river) and Jaldhaka river. The road to Naxal leads through the Rubber Plantation, and once you reach there you will be welcomed by the gushing Jaldhaka river. While you stand on the left bank of the river, on the other bank, stands the lofty Bhutan hills. An amazing place indeed! One can spend hours listening to the flowing river and the twittering of birds. One can have a refreshing bath as well ( the water is very cold though). What’s more, there’s a homestay nearby(on the left-hand side of Naxal Khola). It is run by Mr Akbar Rai, a very soft-spoken host. The homestay is an ideal place to spend a day or two away from the din and bustle. Even if one doesn’t stay here, one can always have a nice cup of coffee while enjoying the pleasing view of the green mountains and, of course, listening to the continuous murmur of Nakshal Khola!
