Trevor and I travel across all of Taichung, Taiwan to answer the ultimate question: WHICH BOBA IS BEST?!?

I fancy myself as a boba connoisseur as a Taiwanese-American that has tasted boba in all parts of the world throughout my life before it became trendy. I invite my American friend who has never tasted authentic boba in the city of its origin to get his fresh outlook on some of my all-time favorites and some famous brands I have never tried.

-Invented the first bubble black tea in 1983 and went on to create the pearl milk tea in 1987. A well-balanced drink as the milk tea and tapioca pearls perfectly complement each other. The perfect combination of (shaken, not stirred) milk + tea amplified with the lightly sweetened tapioca pearls quenches any thirst.

-Established in 1994, this once-humble beverage stand has become a household name and a staple for any local Taiwanese person looking for a treat. They serve (and deliver!) latte, tea, milk tea, juice, and jelly which allows hundreds of different combinations (including sugar levels and quantity of ice) to make your desired drink at an affordable price.

Arguably another inventor of bubble milk tea with their inception dated back to 1986. This tea house takes pride in the traditional art of tea brewing and proudly steeps its history and culture in each cup. (Yeah, I can be punny when I want to be.)

Tiger Sugar（老虎堂逢甲店）  / twtigersugar  
A boba sensation!!! This trendy cup of boba's signature Instagram-worthy "tiger stripes" is created by drizzling freshly prepared sugarcane brown sugar rather than pre-made sugar syrup on the sides of the cup before drowning the always-warm, ooey-gooey tapioca pearls at the bottom with it and filling the cup with tea + ice cold fresh whole milk to the brim.
