Metro de Madrid | Estación de Plaza Elíptica | Líneas 6 y 11

Español: Plaza Elíptica es un intercambiador de transportes situado en el Sur de Madrid donde confluyen las líneas 6 y 11 del Metro de Madrid situada bajo la plaza homónima en el barrio de Abrantes en los distritos de Usera y Carabanchel.

Trenes de las series 8000 2da y 9700. La estación fue inaugurada el 7 de mayo de 1981 al ampliarse la línea 6 desde Pacífico hasta Oporto. Desde el 16 de noviembre de 1998 sirve de enlace entre las líneas 6 y 11 al inaugurarse el primer tramo de la última, que transcurría hasta Pan Bendito. Entre 2004 y 2007 se construyó un intercambiador subterráneo que sirve de cabecera a múltiples líneas interurbanas y alguna urbana. En la superficie también está la plaza servida por varias líneas urbanas EMT. Con la construcción del intercambiador de autobuses los autobuses urbanos con cabecera en Plaza Elíptica y las líneas de autobuses interurbanos que antes paraban en la superficie de la Plaza de Fernández Ladreda, pasaron a tener sus paradas en el interior del intercambiador, que se encuentra distribuido a lo largo de tres niveles subterráneos: el nivel -1 para los autobuses urbanos de la EMT Madrid, la línea 480 y la línea de Larga Distancia Madrid-Toledo de ALSA, el nivel -2 para el resto de líneas interurbanas, con varias dársenas en las plantas -1 y -2 y el nivel -3 para la zona comercial y el acceso al Metro de Madrid.

La estación se convirtió en una de las estaciones más importantes del sur de la ciudad ya que recibe, como se ha dicho anteriormente, autobuses urbanos de Madrid, autobuses interurbanos de los municipios del Sur de Getafe, Leganés, Parla, y una línea de larga distancia, Madrid-Toledo. En el año 2011 tuvo lugar una mejora de la estación de Plaza Elíptica de la línea 6, sustituyéndose los mármoles de las paredes y bancos de la antigua estación por paredes de vítrex de color verde y bancos metálicos. Además se arregló la cúpula y se dio mayor iluminación a la estación.

English: Plaza Elíptica is a transport interchange located in southern Madrid, where lines 6 and 11 of the Madrid Metro converge. It is situated beneath the plaza of the same name in the Abrantes neighborhood, within the Usera and Carabanchel districts.

Trains of the 8000 2nd and 9700 series. The station was inaugurated on May 7, 1981, when Line 6 was extended from Pacífico to Oporto. Since November 16, 1998, it has served as a link between Lines 6 and 11, following the opening of the first section of Line 11, which ran to Pan Bendito. Between 2004 and 2007, an underground interchange was built, serving as the terminus for multiple intercity and some urban bus lines. Above ground, there is also a plaza served by several EMT city bus lines. With the construction of the bus interchange, the urban buses with their terminus at Plaza Elíptica and the intercity bus lines that previously stopped on the surface of Plaza de Fernández Ladreda, began to have their stops inside the interchange, which is distributed along three underground levels: level -1 for the urban buses of EMT Madrid, line 480 and the Madrid-Toledo Long Distance line of ALSA, level -2 for the rest of the intercity lines, with several bays on levels -1 and -2 and level -3 for the commercial area and access to the Madrid Metro.

The station became one of the most important in the south of the city, as it receives, as previously mentioned, Madrid city buses, intercity buses from the southern municipalities of Getafe, Leganés, and Parla, and a long-distance line, Madrid-Toledo. In 2011, the Plaza Elíptica station on Line 6 underwent improvements, with the marble walls and benches of the old station being replaced with green Vitrex panels and metal benches. The dome was also repaired, and the station's lighting was improved.
