We will taker look on A320 hydraulic pump how it works and also we will take look how to replace it and exactly we will take look on EDP or Engine Driven Pump since we have several kind of hydraulic pumps on Aircraft.
Engine driven Hydraulic pump is installed on engine accessory gear box hart which pumping hydraulic fluid through all control components from flight controls to landing gear. Hopefully my explanation will be enough for you.

here you can find few informations about this component
The EDP supplies fluid to the system at a nominal pressure of 206 bar (3000 psi) with zero flow, and a flow of 150 l/min (39.6 US gal/min) at a pressure of 196 bar (2854 psi). The pump supplies this amount of fluid at a speed of 3702 rpm (equivalent to 93.5% engine N2 speed).
If the supply of fluid to the EDP stops (the fire valve is closed) the EDP can operate for a maximum of 15 mins. before it is damaged.

Reason for replacement: leak
