Summary: The borehole (wash/rotary) drilling is used to determine the sub-surface profile, by obtaining the SPT–N value of soil (disturbed & undisturbed samples) & rock coring. The Standard Penetration Test (SPT) will then be used to provide information on the geotechnical engineering properties of soil. When SPT encounter the rock layer (hammer rebound), coring is done to determine the quality of the rock (RQD).
