REPOINTING STONE WALL & REBUILDING BRICK CHIMNEY

Film of one of our projects in progress shot over 10 day job in Newtown PA in April 2024.

Rational/Scope of the Project on the old/stone historic house:

Possibly because of the directional winds - this one wall was damaged the most over the hundred of years with a driven rain hitting it constantly.
The old mortar was completely cracked to the point that water gets inside the house during the heavy rains.
The brick chimney on the left/gable side is also falling apart, repaired many times over the years, probably adding to the water infiltration as it follows down the shaft - freezes - and further cracks the stone wall.

Work to be done:
Remove old mortar from between the old stones using
grinders, hammer drills, chisels...
Re-case window frames with aluminum coil in white...
Re-point the spaces between stones with new mortar.
Match color as close as possible.
Demo the chimney.
Re-make the chimney with new bricks, ceramix shaft and top cap.
Install copper counter flashing from the new brick/chimney to the old slate roof.
Old bricks to be disposed of in the dump. Clean up the job site.
