November 2023 saw the official opening of Belong's first intergenerational care village, with a fully integrated children’s nursery creating extensive opportunities for experiences between older and younger people as they live and learn together, under the same roof.
Operated by national charity Ready Generations, The Nursery in Belong children spend much time with Belong’s residents and tenants, enjoying shared mealtimes, stories, arts and crafts, exercise, and excursions such as ‘prambles’ – rambling with pushchairs around the city centre. The newly launched intergenerational village choir, Sankofa Songsters, is also making its mark with its first public performance for Christmas at a local church.
