Chinese in Tokyo 中国人在东京

We took to the streets of Tokyo, from Ueno to Ginza, looking for Chinese citizens either studying here or on vacation (some for shopping others for the culture and sights). We wanted to know their frank opinions of Japan and the Japanese people.

The research we'd conducted prior to our interviews had revealed that although Chinese people's view of Japan had worsened over the last year, due to political reasons, such as island territory and war memorial disputes. Despite this, the number of Chinese tourists flocking to Japan has almost doubled in the last year, driven by factors such as a weak Japanese Yen and bad relations with Hong Kong.

As we discovered, that's not all there is to this story. Chinese shoppers and visitors are drawn back to Japan, impressed by; the quality and authenticity of the goods, the polite manners of the general Japanese population and excellent standards of customer service.
