Pope Francis: from Catholic to Mormon?

The doctrine and ordinance of Baptism for the Dead taught within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints often raises eyebrows. When applied to high-profile figures or those of other faiths, especially those who were killed for their faith, it becomes an even more intense and controversial issue.

With the recent passing of Pope Francis, this practice came to mind again, and I had to ask myself: "Will Mormons try to convert the Pope?"

So I dove into the LDS theology behind proxy baptisms, exploring past examples (including Anne Frank, Christopher Columbus, and Barack Obama's mother), and discussing the ethical and emotional impact of baptising the dead without consent.
