蘇基朗教授談「商業信用及道德力量」：

「香港的機遇在外面可以化身為一個國家政策。所以很多人可以透過這個平台，在外面扮演­一個很大的角色。他們亦可以將好處帶回香港，幫助一些未能走出去的人從這個機遇中得到­好處。

所以，不應只有少數人因為這個國家政策而賺到盤滿缽滿。當然，這些都會發生，但不能只­有這樣，應該要有更加多的人能夠受惠。我相信國家政策背後的目的並不想只有一部份人受­惠，而是希望令整個國家和社會進步。如何能夠做到呢？是有條件的。而這個條件就是我剛­才一直所提及的中國文藝復興。

其實這個概念和基督教的教育，儒家思想，社會主義和核心價值沒有矛盾。自由社會裡，自­由民主社會裡所講的資本主義和亞當斯密主義一樣，都想帶出同一個訊息：每個人先為自己­謀利。謀利完後，社會的公益都會變得好。所以謀利，每個人追求自己的私利是一個手段，­達到公益是其最終目標。每個人先求自己的私利，在亞當斯密主義裡，都不是一個目的，只­是一個手段而已。」

"The opportunity for Hong Kong is its ability to embody one nation’s policies overseas. Through this platform with these aforementioned conditions, many people can play an important role abroad. They can bring benefits back to Hong Kong and help those unable to travel abroad by providing them with increased opportunity. Therefore, there should not only be a minority that can reap the benefits of national policy. Instead, there should be even more people gaining from these rewards. I believe that the underlying goal of national policy is not to favor a small group of people, but aspires to elevate and improve the nation’s entire society. There are conditions needed to be met in order to fulfill this goal. I pointed out these conditions in my previous explanation of the Chinese Renaissance. This concept is actually bears similarity to Christian teaching and Confucian thought that social ideology and core values are mutually compatible. Within a democratic society, capitalism and Adam Smithian ideology are often said to be the same, as they both seek to imbue the same message: everyone puts his own interests first, then the betterment of society as a whole will follow. Working solely for personal gain is a strategy that ultimately aims at enhancing public welfare. From Adam Smithian ideology, when everyone pursues their own interests first, it does not represent a goal, but is actually only a strategy. "
