At about 10:52 PM, on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, Officers assigned to the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force and Mass State Police Gang Unit made an on-site arrest and recovered a loaded firearm, large capacity feeding device, and drugs near the intersection of Dorchester Ave. and Talbot Ave, Dorchester. Officers were on a directed patrol near Dorchester Ave. and activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop after their attention was drawn to a black Toyota Corolla, with excessively dark window tint, traveling on Dorchester Ave. at a speed greater than reasonable.
Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the operator, Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick, 21-years-old of Dorchester, and his passenger, Chance Pierre, 19-years-old of Dorchester. Both occupants of the vehicle immediately became agitated with Officers and continually acted non-compliant to the commands of Officers by continually yelling at Officers and refuting their presence. An investigation ensued by Officers, which resulted in a large backpack being located inside the vehicle, and a frisk of the bag resulted in multiple sealed packages of marijuana, as well as a large sum money in the amount of $300 U.S Dollars.
As Officers continued their investigation, they proceeded to remove the vehicle’s trunk flooring panel which led to the built-in natural void that usually contains a spare tire. Officers observed the spare tire with a bag located in the center area on top of the spare tire. As Officers moved a bag from the spare tire area, they immediately observed what they knew to be an extended magazine to a black firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Glock ghost gun containing no round in the chamber and 16 (9mm) live cartridges in the magazine. Both Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick and Chance Perre were arrested and placed in custody.
Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick was issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation and was arranged in Dorchester Court for the charges of Excessive Tint, Speeding Greater than Reasonable, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Carrying Loaded Firearm, Ammunition Without FID Card, and Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device. Chance Pierre was arraigned for a warrant out of New Bedford District Court for Disturbing the Peace, Resisting Arrest, and Assault & Battery on a Family or Household Member.
