Everything Changes (Harry/Hermione)

What if they had? What if, during "Deathly Hallows", Harry and Hermione gave up being with each other, because they knew it would hurt Ron if they did, and settled for Ginny and Ron?

The video opens with Hermione marrying Ron, and neither Harry nor Hermione are very happy. Then Harry marries Ginny and we see Hermione's reaction to it.

Over the course of the years, Harry and Hermione try and pretend that they're happy, but they really aren't. They're constantly haunted by memories of each other, of how much they've been through together and how they're the only ones who have never hurt the other. Harry acknowledges that he is "the closet [Hermione] can never close", and Hermione knows he is "the devil in her", the one thing she is ashamed of, because she knows it's wrong to love him.

Harry blames himself for walking away, and letting Hermione stay with Ron. He's grown hard and detached, cut off from almost everyone except his children. He hopes Hermione can forgive him (in the first chorus, he slips into Hermione and Ron's bedroom while Ron's asleep to talk to her; in the second, they're sitting together by a fireplace one quiet evening, probably looking after their kids). If she can forgive him, and if they can at least be real friends again, Harry believes he'll be able to feel again.

Hermione does forgive him, and they gradually grow closer again. But they stay with Ron and Ginny, and continue pretending. They also acknowledge and know that they love one another.

The video ends with Harry and Hermione spending some time together, as they often do, because it's the only way they can get through "the toughest part of the day".

The two subtitles are quotes from "Deathly Hallows":

1. Ron's "I get it. You choose him" (about Hermione and Harry)
2. The bit where "Hermione turned and beamed at Harry; her eyes, too, were full of tears.
