How do Scientists determine the age of ancient objects?
Before we dive into the history of planet earth, we need to establish an informational foundation. Absolute Dating is an essential concept that justifies every conversation about prehistory. The dates given to ancient objects aren't purely speculation -- They are based in hard science. Series 1 of Deep Time Analysis will explore the methods of Absolute Dating and Relative Dating, starting with Dendrochronology, the study of tree rings. Tree rings can be used to establish lengthy historical references of their local climate stretching back millennia. They can even be used to determine the age of archaeological sites, precise to within one or two years. I hope this video does a satisfactory job at explaining dendrochronology. If you think I missed something important, or want me to make a dedicated video addressing arguments against the validity of Dendrochronology, let me know in the comment section.

Images came from WSL, the same ResearchGate papers I referenced in the links, NOAA, the National Forest Service, University of Arizona, Schmidt Ocean Institute, and NASA. The images of the well I got from a few different public news sources. I did an admittedly bad job of recording image references because I was just typing things into google and downloading the jpgs as I found them. I either got my images and videos from government websites or from royalty free sources so everything in this video should be within fair use rights as long as I credit the appropriate parties.
As far as I know, nothing in this video is AI generated. My voice is my own, the images are either of real life locations or CGI from sources like NASA. The music I used is royalty free, but as far as I know there's no way to tell if it's AI generated music.
