Israelis pay last respects to Bibas family with flags and tears | ABS-CBN News

Israelis paid last respects for Shiri Bibas and her two young sons Kfir and Ariel, who were killed while in Gaza captivity, at the start of a funeral procession on Wednesday (February 26).
People holding Israeli flags, orange balloons and placards in memory of the slain, some crying and weeping, lined the streets in the city of Rishon Lezion in central Israel, from where a funeral procession route begins.
Israeli military said intelligence assessments and forensic analysis of the bodies of the Bibas children indicated that they were deliberately killed by their captors.
Shiri was kidnapped along with her children from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Her husband Yarden was also seized, and taken separately from the family. He was released on February 1 as part of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire that took effect a little over a month ago.
After her body was misidentified in a handover, Hamas released a body on Friday (February 21) which Israeli authorities confirmed to be Shiri’s.
Israel’s army radio reported early on Saturday (February 22) that Shiri was likely slain in captivity with her children.
