Josh Smith is one of the most impressive athletes in NBA History. The high-flying forward would enter the NBA straight out of high school, and win the Slam Dunk Contest as a rookie. And while he was raw, he quickly became one of the most exciting players in the league but also had substance as a versatile two-way player who was at his best when slashing to the rim during a nearly decade-long run with the Atlanta Hawks, playing alongside the core of Joe Johnson, Al Horford, Jamal Crawford and, Jeff Teague. But after signing a big contract with the Detroit Pistons, he began relying almost exclusively on his inconsistent jump shot and was phased out of the NBA just a few seasons after leaving the Hawks. But a prime Josh Smith was a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate and one of the greatest finishers to ever step on the court.
