Closer | Varian and the Seven Kingdoms

A long-awaited, much-requested Varigo duet! If y'all wanted fluff, I'm sorry but I mainly deal in ANGST. So I hope you enjoy a song from the early stage of Varian and Hugo's enemies-to-lovers relationship.

Context: After Varian reluctantly accepts Hugo's help in assisting them with the trials, the two reflect on their doubts and suspicions about the other, while also noticing the things that make them similar.

I have NEVER orchestrated in this epic rock-and-roll genre before, and it was a serious challenge that required a ton of research, but it was also super fun! I definitely had to turn off my musical theatre brain somewhat and tone it down when it came to the sheer number of instruments. I am SO happy with how it turned out, though! Realized a little too late that this wanders into the PG realm (Dani used the H-word, oh no!). But I don't actually work for Disney, so I hope you don't mind too much.

In case you're wondering, all the upper harmonies are sung by Varian, because if I ever have the privilege of writing for Jeremy Jordan you KNOW I'll be giving him the high notes. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Your comments give me life.
