Built originally in 1952 for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad, this Alco RS3M is now sporting new ownership on the A&A. Purchased in 2023, this engines supplements the three operating center cabs GE locomotives as well as the Alco Steam Locomotive #18. This locomotive came to the railroad from the Western New York & Pennsylvania, when the railroad received grants to update their fleet of locomotives from New York. Many, in fact I believe all of the Alco and MLW equipment was sold to other railroads across the region including the A&A, NYLE, and Delaware Lackawanna.
On this crisp fall September morning, the #114 pulls a string of freight cars from Arcade at 8am to the end of the line in North Java. Here, the two industries receive the following types of carloads: Reisdorf Brothers receives both hoppers and tank cars, while Buffalo Molasses receives tankers for their production. We will watch as the crew passes the oldest Ford Dealership in New York, Ghost Pond, and passing #110 in town on display. A little bit of fall colors and Alco smoke in this video.
