Hi and welcome to Carla!
We’re Heidi, Claus, Nikoline, Erland – and our dog, Martha.
We’re a family taking on the adventure of a lifetime: restoring our steel sailboat, SY Carla, from the keel up. We're not sailing yet, but every bolt, weld, and project brings us one step closer to life at sea.

Join us as we document the full transformation of our future floating home – from cutting out rust and rebuilding tanks, to welding in new steel, removing old gear, and uncovering what’s hidden beneath the decks. It’s raw, real, and 100% DIY – done together as a family.
Right now, it’s all hands on deck (literally!) as we strip back decades of wear, rebuild hatches, repair holes, and reshape this boat, inch by inch. It’s not always pretty, but it’s honest, and we’re learning everything as we go – side by side.

We traded comfort for challenge, and convenience for purpose. Along the way, we’re sharing the hard work, the laughter, the steep learning curves, and the moments that remind us why we started.
