The area in and around Owens Lake has some very fascinating history, much of it dating as far back as the mid 19th century. The desert has reclaimed much of the evidence which would otherwise support these activities but, if you are careful and take your time, some of it still exists. I came across the community of Keeler while returning from a trip to Death Valley. Returning home, I did some research and discovered there is far more to this little isolated area than meets the eye. It's steeped deep in mining and railroad history, water rights and dusty survival skills. I spent a day exploring as much as I could find along the southern, western and eastern portion of Owens Lake, the site of Swansea, ruins of Cartago, historic Keeler, and the old Carson and Colorado train station. I recorded what I thought was the most interesting to share with all of you. I hope you find this as interesting and fascinating as I did. And as always, thank you for joining us.
