On April 12, 2025, Adabnama presented an unforgettable Mushaira at the Sargodha Arts Council Auditorium — a night that will be remembered as a milestone in the city’s literary landscape. Organized by Mueed Mirza and Faizan Hashmi, this grand gathering brought together poetry lovers, renowned literary figures, and an audience deeply devoted to Urdu literature.
The Mushaira was presided over by the esteemed scholar Dr. Waheed Ahmed, whose graceful presence added intellectual depth to the evening. Among the distinguished poets, Shaheen Abbas impressed with his mastery of classical tradition and philosophical expression. Dr. Iftikhar Faisal, popularly known as “Taya Sahib,” energized the gathering with his spirited applause and signature phrase “Haal oye…!” — turning the evening into a celebration of both verse and voice. Idrees Babar contributed his layered metaphors and deep poetic insight, captivating the audience with thought-provoking verses. Ikram Arfi enchanted listeners with his melodic recitation and heartfelt delivery, creating moments of lyrical beauty.
Ali Zaryoon and Tehzeeb Hafi brought contemporary flair to the stage, connecting deeply with the younger audience through their modern themes and emotional resonance. Fariha Naqvi’s delicate tone and thoughtful content introduced a gentle elegance to the night, while several other brilliant voices — including Dr. Naeemullah Anmol, Dr. Waqar Khan, Shahid Bilal, Dr. Usman Zia, Farukh Ejaz Naseer, Zahid Basheer, Arshad Mahmood, Sohaib Mughaira, Rana Aam Liaqat, Khurram Afaq, Muqeel Bukhari, Faaha Khan, Muhammad Amir, Abrar Hussain, and Mueed Mirza himself — added rich diversity and emotional depth to the gathering.
The event was beautifully anchored by Zubair Khalid and Maria Sundus, whose poised and articulate hosting elevated the evening’s rhythm and flow. Later, Sohaib Mughaira took over the stage with his distinctive style of compering, bringing a renewed energy to the final segment of the Mushaira.
A touching highlight of the night was when seven-year-old Wajiha Sultan, Mueed Mirza’s niece, confidently recited two verses — her innocent voice and natural flair offering a glimpse into the promising future of Urdu poetry.
The Mushaira continued late into the night, leaving behind echoes of verse, applause, and heartfelt conversations. The spirit of that evening — the warmth, the passion, the literary devotion — is now available to relive on Adabnama’s YouTube channel. We invite all lovers of literature to watch, reflect, and share their thoughts with us
