Welcome to another video in our trophy mounting and finishing series.
In this video you will see Splitting Image Taxidermy's taxidermist shape the mould for a Nyala to be mounted. This Nyala shoulder mount has a left turn to it, as requested by the client, to better showcase the shape of the horns.
Once the mounting is down, the trophy goes into a drying stage of 6 weeks. After this drying period, the taxidermist from the finishing department at Splitting Image Taxidermy will take the trophy for its final touch ups prior to shipping. This process involves the removing of any excess clay, treating horns, airbrush layering and conditioning of the skin.
