“I Can’t Do Without You ” is performed by Al Bowlly and Harry Hudson’s Radio Rhythm Boys in 1931.

The 1930’s dance band formula for many arrangements emphasizes the band and their strong instrumental passages throughout the piece. The vocal refrain was typically added (almost as an after thought in my opinion) in the middle of the arrangement. The lyric may last 50-60 seconds at best. So, for the modern listener, after 20 seconds with no hint of a vocal rendering at the beginning of the song, it can be a little off putting. All I can say is, have patience and I think you won’t be disappointed. Remember, this music was meant for dancing and this musical era has so much listening pleasure to offer.

With that said, there are numerous ai iterations, both stills and animated, throughout the song. Cut out early and you’re sure to miss something you’ve never seen
