Tram 28 is one of Lisbon's most iconic tram routes, offering a scenic ride through some of the city's most historic and vibrant neighbourhoods.

Tram 28 begins its journey in the Campo de Ourique district and takes passengers on a scenic trip through some of Lisbon's most charming and historic areas. From Campo de Ourique, the tram travels through Estrela, with its famous basilica and garden, and continues toward the lively neighbourhood of Baixa. As it climbs through the narrow streets of Alfama and Graça, passengers can enjoy views of iconic landmarks such as the São Jorge Castle and the Sé Cathedral. The route ends at Martim Moniz, providing a full tour of the city’s vibrant heart.

The trams themselves are vintage, dating back to the 1930s, with their distinctive yellow bodies and wooden interiors, adding a nostalgic touch to the ride. Despite their old-fashioned appearance, they are still a popular mode of transport for both locals and tourists.

A single ride on Tram 28 costs around €3, but using a Viva Viagem card, which can be recharged, brings the price down to around €1.50 per trip. It’s highly recommended to get on early, as the tram often gets crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons.
