Our Secret UK Spouse Visa Wedding (Getting Married to a Brit in the USA)

On December 31st (New Year's Eve) Christopher and I married in my hometown of Bellingham, USA. This was never our original intention - in fact at the time we were still planning our wedding in the UK. But as we drew further toward the visa application process, we realised that marrying in the USA might be our best option. So, our large (planned) August wedding became a wedding blessing instead.

In this video, we discuss some of the reasons that we decided to have two weddings - and a few of the challenging situations that other LDR couples might be facing as well. We touch on the various reasons for having multiple weddings (especially in an international relationship) and how to handle the reactions you might experience as a result of your decision.

In the end, all long distance couples want the same thing - to be together. When multiple cultures or countries are involved, this is not always as straightforward as it sounds. But remember, no matter what you decide, you must always choose what is best for yourself first.
