🏔️ Ever heard of Yes Theory and Seek Discomfort? They’ve sent me together with a stranger from another country on an epic adventure in ICELAND!!❄️ This truly was a surreal life-changing experience! We both couldn’t believe it was really happening until the moment we got on the plane.

I am Tycho from Amsterdam, the Netherlands and I won this trip together with a stranger from another country: Velte from Oslo, Norway. We were both fortunate enough to win this amazing trip. Vetle and I both had different Seek Discomfort goals that we’d want to overcome. How’d we do? I hope you enjoy coming with us on this journey.

🏔️For me, the discomfort lay in some of the physical things that the team at Seek Discomfort had planned for us. Ever since I broke my arm at the end of 2021, I have avoided snow and Ice entirely. Besides that, I didn’t swim for almost 15 years. And Seek Discomfort wanted us to go snorkeling between two tectonic plates. This was definitely the biggest fear for me. The social aspect, of going on a trip with a stranger, was no biggie for me. Since 2013 I’ve hosted over 600 tourists for free in my house in Amsterdam (through platforms like CouchSurfing). Being with strangers is what I do for a living. Except… I do it for free😁

And Vetle, being a professional diver (he does it for a living and fun) had no stress thinking about all the physical challenges that we’d do on this trip. For him, the discomfort truly lay in the social aspect. Two opposites from two different countries, going through two different challenges. How did Vetle and I match? How did he socialize with the bunch of other people we met on this trip? How did I do with the physical challenges? How will I continue to be happy in life if you don’t leave a comment down below after reading this sentence?
