Heavy rain and significant flash flooding occurred across Central Alabama early on Wednesday morning as a complex of thunderstorms trained across the region. Sylacauga was hit particularly hard with numerous homes, businesses, and vehicles being flooded or swept down stream across several neighborhoods. Hit particularly hard were the Cloverdale and Motes Road areas where a river of rushing water went through homes and event washed out rail road tracks along Oldfield Road. More rain is possible in the region and crews are still dealing with trees on downed lines as well. Drone footage shows these areas from the air.
